What is Les Bassins des Lumières?

Les Bassins des Lumières is an interactive digital art installation located at the Bordeaux Submarine Base. This monumental installation was created by Gianfranco Iannuzzi, Renato Gatto and Massimiliano Siccardi. It is a great work of art that combines images and music to create a unique and interactive experience.

It was designed to offer a unique experience to visitors. The project was funded by the French government and the City Council with the aim of attracting tourists from all over the world. It has become one of the main tourist destinations in the region. It has received thousands of visitors since its inauguration in 2018, many of them with free tours of Bordeaux.

Opening times and prices of the shows at the Bassins de Lumières

The Bassins de Lumières is located in the city’s former submarine base. It covers an area of 42,000 m2.

You can visit the Bassins every day of the year, from noon to midnight. During the day, the shows start at 12:00h and are repeated every hour until 20:00h.

From Monday to Thursday, there is a special session at 21:30h. On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, there are two additional shows at 22:00h and 23:00h. The shows last approximately 20 minutes and it is not necessary to book a ticket in advance.

Admission is €15 per adult and €13.50 if you want to enter the Destination Cosmos show. The price allows you to see the show as many times as you like on the same day. There are also special discounts for children and groups. Children under the age of 8 get in free. Groups of more than 10 people receive a 10?discount.

It is important to mention that animals are not allowed on the premises, nor is it allowed to take photographs or record videos of the show.

How to get to the Bassins de Lumières in Bordeaux?

To get to the Bassins de Lumières, there are several options.

Visitors can arrive by car from the centre of Bordeaux. The journey takes about 20 minutes, depending on traffic. There is also a bus stop which is about 15 minutes walk from the site. Once on site, there is a free car park for visitors.

Visitors can also arrive by train. The nearest station is Bordeaux-Saint-Jean station, which is about a 20-minute walk from the site. From there, visitors can walk to the site or take a bus.

Finally, visitors can also reach the site by bike from the centre of Bordeaux. The ride takes about 45 minutes. There is a safe cycle path that will take you directly to the Bassins de Lumières.
